I am sitting here reading one of the letters from one of my mentors and friend Mr Jack Canfield
When I think of some of the most successful people I’ve ever met, I’ve noticed they all have one thing in common: they never stop learning.
Any person who performs at the highest level in their field will tell you the same thing—they take every opportunity to expand their knowledge, improve their skills, and build on their expertise.
Continuous learning has been a key factor for my own success as a coach, trainer, author, speaker, and leader.
And the best news of all is, anyone can become a lifelong learner! All you need is curiosity and the desire to improve yourself. Here are two phrases you should embed in your subconscious starting this very minute:
The more you learn, the more you’ll earn.
Readers become leaders.
This is because people who have more information have a tremendous advantage over people who don’t… and by information, I mean knowledge that will help you become more productive, more effective, more skilled, and your best possible self.
In my very first meeting with my mentor, W. Clement Stone, he suggested I cut one hour of television a day. I asked him what should I do with that extra hour, and he said, “anything productive.”
By cutting one hour each day, I had an extra 365 hours per year (that’s two months of additional time!) to help me accomplish my biggest goals.
So, I used that extra time to read books on selling, psychology, finance, and inspirational biographies—in a nutshell, I studied the principles of successful living. All this extra time has accumulated into reading more than 3,000 books, which has made a huge difference in my success.
I encourage you to do the same, Aldophus, and invite you to take a look at this extensive reading list here.
Reading books like these will help you achieve mastery in the areas of your life most central to your happiness and fulfillment.
If you make a commitment to read one book a month, review what you have read, and apply at least one thing you learn from each book, you’ll be miles ahead of everyone else.
Below, you’ll find powerful learning habits and discover how to create lasting and transformational change in yourself and others.
